This Yerba Mate uses a process that is over 80 years old. Lighty smoked during the drying process. Very little stem, and no added dust*. Will not clog bombillas or filters.

*When yerba mate is milled for packaging the stems, leaf and dust are collected in three different compartments. The three components are then blended back to the producers specifications and can contain an added %15 dust and stems. This yerba mate has only the leaf component of the milling, no added dust or stems. A small amount of dust will develop during packaging.

I am used to drinking a mixture of normal sin palo maté and Brazilian chimarrão style maté. The combination of the "green" flavor of chimarrão and the earth, smokey flavor of traditional maté is what I like to drink in the mornings.

Itapua Traditional Organic Yerba Mate is something I've never had before: A yerba maté that feels like it's fresh from the plant. Whereas most mass-produced yerba matés have a dusty flavor and a washed-out, brownish color, Itapuas' traditional maté is a nice greenish hue with a bright, fresh flavor that tastes like the plant, not like the process.

    Delicious Paraguayan yerba mate.

    Rating:
    Pros:
    Cons:
This is a delicious traditional Paraguayan yerba mate. It says it is aged but it tastes very fresh, is lightly smoked, very green, and it tastes great as Terere or iced mate, and it is not bad as hot yerba mate. For organic yerba mate it is inexpensive. There's also less dust in it than in most other brands of yerba mate from Paraguay.

Finally, a delicious and smoky organic mate that taste like the mates I used to love! This has a full flavor for those mate lovers out there.
