Go YerbaMate has some of the best quality Materos for the best value, how do I know? I bought one of these Palo Santo cups and it is the best one I have found. Check the web for "other" mate shops and look at their CHEAPER quality and OVER PRICED cups, made from cheap woods. If you do find a real, Palo Santo cup it will likely be $20 to $40 and very cheap quality. Of all the ones I have seen from "Go Yerba Mate" are made from heartwood of the Palo Santo, which is very difficult to make anything from, as it is so hard and dense.
A good trick is to "season" your Palo Santo cup just like a regular gourd. Fill it with Mate (about 2/3 full) then fill it with water, and let it sit for 24 hours. Drain it, rinse it, let it dry. REPEAT this one or two more times. The Palo Santo wood soaks up the minerals and green color (chlorophyll) from the Mate and makes the wood look amazing. It gets better with more use.
