Pajarito Special Selection Yerba Mate 1 kg (2.2 lbs)

Paraguay's best selling brand. A yerba that maintains its flavor and aroma for longer period of time. It has a smaller leaf cut and more dust than traditional Argentina brands because in Paraguay it is used with ice water and a bombilla (terrere). I wanted to try something new and decided to go with this brand. Good overall. The mate holds its flavor well and is not too strong and not too weak. Good balance of stems, leaves, and dust. Not the best mate I have ever had, but I still like it a lot and would recommend it to anyone. Great price for what you get.

I was introduced to Pajarito Mate while living in Madrid, Spain. The shopkeep said it was the best and that it is what folks in his native Paraguay enjoy. I decided to give it a spin. It's incredibly amusing and has this sexy nose of smoke, black fruits, cappuccino, and toasty wood that's followed by an expansive, terrifically concentrated sumptuous texture. There's no hard edges, and kicks down a long, 35 second finish. I returned for a time to Guayaki (my previous brand) but I'm back. I buy enough Pajarito at a time to qualify for free shipping from goyerbamate! BTW I use a carobwood gord which really helps the flavor!
