Organic Pajarito Yerba Mate 500 gr (1.1 lbs)

Pajarito means “little bird” in Spanish, but the company, Lauro Raatz, that makes it has grown to be one of the major producers of yerba mate in Paraguay, manufacturing 20,000 kg per day. I have only been drinking yerba mate for a few months, so please take my comments in context of my lack of experience. The primary focus of the company is the production of traditional yerba mate. Appearance of leaves: good mix of leaf and stem, and ample powder, well suited for the bombilla, typical yellow green color of aged mate. Dry aroma: sawdust, green tea, typical soft Paraguayan mate aroma. Wet aroma: wet green leaves, caramel, allspice Cup: muddy due to the ample polvo (powder) content Color of tea: surprisingly dark amber for unsmoked tea. Texture: Smooth, mildly astringent slightly buttery finish. Flavor: Excellent smooth Paraguayan flavor, bold flavors with caramel, dried hay and corn, and a modest amount of fresh cut green grass. The flavor is bold and pronounced without any overbearing smoky quality. Overall: A consistent, strong mate with the typical smooth character of Paraguayan yerba mate. Minimal flavor variations; probably the most typical of the “suave” Paraguayan style, with just a slight nod to a fresh green component more commonly seen with Brazilian or Uruguayan leaf.

This is an excellent organic Paraguayan yerba mate. It is not the best but it's very good, not expensive, not overly bitter, and it tastes very good both hot and over ice. The only negatives are that it's extremely dusty and can be extremely compressed when you take it out of the package.

This Is a great Mate mix. Perfect taste and well worth it for the $.

This stuff tastes really good when served cold with lime and mint!

the order and delivery are fast and efficient. pajarito is very good! not so dusty as the other leaf only yerbas I purchased.
