In 1990, while working on a documentary series for National Public Radio, I was in Misiones province in Argentina, where yerba mate is grown. Ever since, I've been thoroughly, happily addicted. In 2008, in a Buenos Aires press conference during the tour for my book The World Without Us, I was asked how long it took me to write it. "Six kilos of Rosamonte," I replied -- and every reporter's piece led with the gringo author who starts his day with yerba mate. Each agreed with me that Rosamonte is the best tasting yerba of all. I'm very grateful to Itapa/goyerbamate.com for making it available in the USA. I can't imagine writing, let alone living, without it.
